Add Cook County Tax Appeal to Claude

Free, no account with us; you need a Claude account (Claude's free plan allows one custom connector). ChatGPT: coming soon.

Add it to Claude (30 seconds)

  1. The button opens Claude's "Add custom connector" window with the name and address filled in. Claude warns that it was "suggested by an external link": check that the address is https://taxcomps.eralpbayraktar.com/mcp, then click Continue.
  2. Keep "No sign-in" (detected automatically): no account is needed. Scroll down in the dialog to find Add and click it (if nothing happens, click it again), then click Connect.
  3. Start a new chat whose first message begins with the tool's name (copy it, or click "Start a chat"):
Use Cook County Tax Appeal: is my property assessment too high? My PIN is 19-29-307-026-0000.Start a chat
Allow the tool when Claude asks.

If it doesn't add: Claude → Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste https://taxcomps.eralpbayraktar.com/mcp, No sign-in.

How it works

  1. In Claude (ChatGPT coming soon), start your message with the tool's name, for example:
Use Cook County Tax Appeal: is my property assessment too high? My PIN is 19-29-307-026-0000.Start a chat
Use Cook County Tax Appeal: find comps for my appeal at 7710 Austin Ave, Burbank IL.Start a chat
Use Cook County Tax Appeal: when is the appeal deadline for Stickney township?Start a chat
  2. The plugin reads the Cook County Assessor's current data on the county's open data portal: assessed values (mailed, certified and Board of Review), building characteristics, neighborhood, class and recorded sales.
  3. It picks comparable homes from the same neighborhood and class with similar size and age, ranks them by similarity, and shows building assessed value per square foot next to yours, plus the value your home would have at the comps' median.
  4. It tells you whether the Assessor or the Board of Review window for your township is open, with links to the official calendars. You file the appeal yourself on the official sites.

Important

This shows public records and simple calculations. It is not legal or tax advice and does not promise a lower assessment: the Assessor and the Board of Review decide each appeal on its evidence. Always confirm the deadline on the official calendar.
